A running commentary on the Audio Forum, by WritersBlock

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Madness day, a day of celebration and violence, a day that is steadily approaching. Many people are slaving away on their Madness day submissions, hoping that this day will present them with the glory of being the winner of the madness day competition. But there's something missing from all these animations and games, something... mad. How can one display the perfect Madness tribute without any Madness tribute music? And that's where the August/September Monthly Audio Competition 8 (MAC 8) kicks in. The theme? Trembling Madness. Anything violently musical belongs here. Run by the audio mod MaestroRage, lists made by DarKsidE555, and prizes from Tom Fulp, himself, all you need is to make your own trembling madness, and you could be on the path to glory. Even if you don't win, any submission could potentially be that one song that perfectly compliments the Madness flash to rule them all. So, whether it be drum n bass, industrial, metal or anything else under the scorched and burning sun, take your best shot. But you'd better hurry, the competition finishes on September 14th.
As well as the Madness competition, there are numerous other competitions going on in the audio forum, such as;
The Drumless Contest
Polytonal/Atonal House Contest
Random Genre Meshing Challenge
Or, if you've got a novel idea, you could PM MaestroRage for future MAC suggestions or start your own competition, but remember to make it organized and interesting, and fun! That's the main reason why a lot of these competitions are around, a somewhat relaxed and fun environment is great for learning new skills.
As well as those competitions stated above, I have made plans for "Continue the Song Game" type competitions. As such, the first "Pass the Notepad" collab is underway. The general idea of it is to exercise the use of standard musical notation, with each person using the free notation program Finale Notepad to add a few bars to the composition.
Check out the collab here,
Get Finale Notepad here,
And you can view a video below that is the basis for the current theme: Mafia
